The Lord of the Rings Party Supplies: “Speak Friend” Party Goods (Free Printables & Canva Templates)

“'The words are in the elven-tongue of the West of Middle-earth in the Elder Days,' answered Gandalf. 'But they do not say anything of importance to us. They say only: The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter. And underneath small and faint is written: I, Narvi, made them. Celebrimbor of Hollin drew these signs.'

'What does it mean by speak, friend, and enter?' asked Merry.

'That is plain enough,' said Gimli. 'If you are a friend, speak the password, and the doors will open, and you can enter.'"

- The Fellowship of the Ring, JRR Tolkien

This design is inspired by the Doors of Durin, located at the western entrance of Moria. Built in the Second Age, these doors serve as a reminder of the friendship which was once strong between Dwarves and Elves. Tolkien himself provided an illustration of these doors in The Lord of the Rings; this collection is meant to be a subtle nod to Tolkien’s by incorporating a few elements of his original illustration into the design.

I’ve included two different versions of this design in this collection, one with a light background to be more printer friendly. I hope you enjoy them!

Please note: this is a part of a multi-part series in which I’ll be sharing different themed party goods and resources for celebrating Tolkien, so if these aren’t your style check back again soon!
