Hobbit Party 2022: Photo Album, Menu, and Party Games

For all of my Hobbit Party planning posts and resources, please visit our Hobbit Party page! This year was our eleventh annual celebration, so things have grown quite a bit over the years. What began as a movie marathon in college has somehow become a three-day affair! I’m sharing these photos and resources in hopes that you may be inspired to host a Hobbit party of your own, however large or small! :)

Hobbit Party Activities

Dragon Quest: Kids hid treasure boxes filled with golden coins throughout the house and set up a “market” where guests could exchange the coins for party favors (mostly rings or little gems we found at the craft store).

Witch-king of Angmar: “But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.” —- Instructions here

The Desolation of Smaug (Piñata): This one is quite simple — all you need is a dragon piñata. — This is the one I use every year because it’s very sturdy and looks great.

Tolkien Trivia: I created a Tolkien trivia quiz and had a few prizes wrapped up for the winners. We didn’t actually end up having time for trivia because we were having too much fun this year.

Shelob’s Web: Master Frodo has been taken captive, and is trapped in Shelob’s Web!  — Instructions Here

And My Axe! (Axe Throwing): Set up foam darts and a large golden ring (could even use a hula hoop) to try to throw the axes through the hoop.

Burn the Ships!: We filled a metal basin with water and lit some paper cranes (Swan Ships) on fire. It was surprisingly cathartic. Next year I’d like to incorporate some kind of race, might be fun!

“The Oath of Fëanor”: Uncover Morgoth's Secret Identity… Fulfill Your Unbreakable Oaths… Maybe do a Little Kinslaying Along the Way? — Full game instructions here.
