Fall 2021 Book Club: The Lord of the Rings

I’m thrilled to announce our fall book club today and share some details about it. We’ll be reading The Lord of the Rings over the course of six months, beginning in September 2021. For more details and to join, use the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Discussion Schedule: we will be discussing each book beginning on the date listed below; it is recommended that you have that book finished before our discussion begins if you want to avoid spoilers. There will be a book club podcast episode that will drop on the corresponding date as well.

Remember, The Lord of the Rings was actually written as six books and then split up into three: so The Fellowship of the Ring contains books I and II, The Two Towers contains III and IV, and The Return of the King contains V and VI.

• 1 September: Book I

• 1 October: Book II

• 1 November: Book III

• 1 December: Book IV

• 1 January: Book V

• 1 February: Book VI

• 1 March: Book Club Wrap-Up

Format: The book club is hosted on our discord server. To get the link to our server, please sign up for the book club via email using the form at the bottom of this post. Discord is primarily a chat-based community, but we will also be hosting voice/video calls throughout the book club as well.

Optional Resource: While our book club is entirely free, I do recommend picking up a copy of my Lord of the Rings companion and devotional, “To Middle-Earth and Back Again” if this is your first time reading The Lord of the Rings or if you’d like to use this book club as an opportunity for spiritual growth!
